Veal steaks with caper butter


  • 50g of butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons of dry white wine (Try the Flirty MAAN Chenin Blanc)
  • 2 tablespoons of capers, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons of finely grated lemon zest
  • 8 small veal steaks (about 500g)
  • mixed salad greens


  1. Mix together the butter, white wine, capers, lemon zest and some salt and pepper with a wooden spoon
  2. Shape into a log, cover and refrigerate until required
  3. Cook the veal steaks on a hot, lightly oiled barbeque flat plate or grill for 2-3 minutes on each side
  4. Remove, place on warm plates and top with the slides of caper butter
  5. Serve immediately on a bed of salad greens
  6. (Serves 4)
