MAAN Reserve Shiraz
Would you like to try something fascinating and exceptionally rare? Something so special, that naming it wouldn't do it justice? Thought so.
Hold onto your hats folks, this one is effusive and gorgeous, it's tough to keep your mitts from opening every bottle in your possession.
The grapes for this wine were sourced from a clandestine Seaview sub-region vineyard in McLaren Vale. Very low yielding, incredible fruit that requires little to no irrigation that we lucked upon.
The grower is incredibly meticulous, and wanted the fruit to go to someone who'd treat it with the love and respect that he had put into it.
Meticulous love and care, incredible fruit and some of the best French oak have gone into this wine which in our opinion is the truest example of McLaren Vale Shiraz. Get some before it all goes.
|Oak Maturation||French Oak|
|Cellaring Potential||20+ years|
|The Vines||Seaview Sub-region|
|Colour||Deep crimson colour, with a purple hue. A depth and concentration of colour that is very enviable.|
|Nose||Satsuma plums, blackberries, boysenberry ice cream, raspberry licorice, a freshly opened boulangerie door, hints of iodine and musky perfume. Some creamy toast, vanillin and mocha from the oak. And a touch of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove spice to round it out.|
|Palate||Beautifully soft, supple, rich and generous. The perfectly judged acid backbone gives it great length (and will help it age for 20+ years) and the deep brooding flavours of raspberry licorice, blackberry tart and stewed plum carry through to the finish. The tannins are so well integrated, it takes a conscious effort to taste them. Delicious|
