Seasoned winemaker, travel enthusiast and co-owner of MAAN Wines, Anthony Neilson has a few tricks up his sleeve when it comes to producing wine. The father of two operates his joint business from the picturesque hills at Kuitpo, near Adelaide.
The grenache variety often finds itself in this familiar blend with companions shiraz and mourvedre (aka mataro), here 50 per cent of the leading grape showing bush/forest/mushroom-like fragrance followed by darker berry notes from the shiraz and some core muscle tone via the mourvedre. It’s robust and rustic and works a treat around a menu of barbecued meats. Great value.
